Helen Keller International (HKI) is a 92-year old international non-governmental organization whose mission is to save the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged by combating the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition. We do this by establishing programs based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition. Helen Keller International has approximately 550 staff located in offices in 19 countries and 7 states and the District of Columbia in the United States, with headquarters in New York City, and annual revenues of $30 million.

In this highly visible position, reporting to the Senior Vice President-Chief Financial Officer, the qualified candidate serves as the chief accountant of the Agency by overseeing the daily accounting functions including accounts payable, general ledger, cash management, grants management, financial systems, and reporting. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent along with at least 7 - 10 years of hands on accounting managerial experience in a nonprofit setting is required. A Master’s degree and CPA certification is highly desired. The Controller must have a full understanding of all aspects of a computerized accounting system (Financial Edge highly desired) and be highly proficient working with Excel and Word software (knowledge of Quicken is a plus). The Controller will have a demonstrated ability to manage complex accounting systems, write and speak effectively, and lead, manage and motivate staff. Lastly, excellent organizational and analytical skills along with the ability to manage and organize data from multiple entities and multiple funders are required.
